Depression Therapy in Toronto, Brampton & Mississauga
Low mood, low energy, or a life that's lost its colour? Our registered therapists help adults, teens, and children recover through evidence-based depression treatment — in person at our clinics or through virtual depression therapy across Ontario.

What Is Depression?
Depression is more than sadness. It's a persistent low mood — or a loss of interest in things you used to enjoy — that lasts for weeks and affects sleep, energy, appetite, concentration, and self-worth.
Depression is not a character flaw or a failure of willpower, and it's one of the most treatable mental health conditions. Depression therapy — also called psychotherapy or talk therapy — helps you understand the underlying causes driving your low mood and rebuild energy, connection, and meaning, step by step.
- Emotional signs: persistent sadness or emptiness, loss of interest, hopelessness, guilt, irritability, difficulty concentrating
- Physical signs: fatigue, sleep changes, appetite changes, moving or speaking slowly, unexplained aches

How Depression Therapy Works
Depression tells you nothing will help — therapy for depression proves it wrong. Our therapists take a collaborative approach, combining proven treatments to lift mood, rebuild energy, and address the underlying causes of depression, not just the symptoms.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT for depression helps you catch the automatic negative thoughts that drag mood down and rebuild balanced, compassionate thinking — a proven first-line depression treatment.
Individual Therapy
Behavioural Activation
Depression shrinks your world. Together we rebuild it — small, planned steps back into movement, connection, and activities that restore energy and meaning.
Children & Youth Therapy
Relational & Family Support
Depression affects relationships, and relationships affect depression. We work with individuals, couples, and families to rebuild connection and support.

Not Sure If It's Depression?
Depression often overlaps with anxiety, burnout, ADHD, grief, and physical health conditions. An accurate picture matters before treatment begins, which is why we offer comprehensive psychological assessments alongside therapy.
Because we're an integrative clinic, our naturopathic doctors can also help rule out physical contributors — thyroid, vitamin deficiencies, hormonal and sleep factors — that can mimic or deepen depression.

Depression Therapy Questions, Answered
How long does depression therapy typically take?+
It varies by person and severity. Many clients notice improvement within 8–16 sessions, while longer-standing depression may take more time. Your therapist reviews progress with you regularly, so the plan always reflects how you're actually doing.
Is therapy alone effective for treating depression, or is medication necessary?+
For mild to moderate depression, therapy alone — especially CBT and behavioural activation — is often as effective as medication. For more severe depression, a combination can work best. We'll support whichever path fits your situation, in coordination with your physician if medication is involved.
What types of therapy do you offer for depression?+
We primarily use cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), behavioural activation, and interpersonal approaches, tailored to you. As an integrative clinic, we can also involve naturopathic support for sleep, energy, and nutrition factors.
How can I help a loved one who is struggling with depression?+
Listen without trying to fix, encourage professional support, and help with small practical steps — a walk, a meal, a ride to an appointment. You can also call our intake team for guidance on how to connect them with a therapist.
What should I expect during my first therapy session?+
Your first session is about your story and your goals. Your therapist will ask about what you're experiencing, your history, and what you want to change — then outline a treatment plan and answer any questions you have.
Do you help children and teens with depression?+
Yes — we provide depression therapy for children, adolescents, and adults. For younger clients, therapy often includes parent guidance and school coordination alongside individual sessions.
Is depression therapy covered by insurance?+
Most extended health plans cover services from registered psychotherapists and psychologists. We provide receipts you can submit to your insurer — see our fees and insurance page for details.
Do you offer online depression therapy in Ontario?+
Yes. We provide virtual depression counselling to clients anywhere in Ontario — including Toronto, Ottawa, Hamilton, London, Kitchener, and Windsor. Online therapy for depression removes travel as a barrier, which matters when energy and motivation are already low.
What forms of depression do you treat?+
We provide therapy for major depression (clinical depression), persistent depressive disorder, situational depression following loss or life change, seasonal depression, and postpartum depression, as well as low mood occurring alongside anxiety, burnout, or ADHD.
